The New Jersey Center for MicroChemical Systems
(NJCMCS) was founded in September 2002 at Stevens Institute
of Technology (Stevens) with long-term state, federal, and institutional
commitments.
The mission of NJCMCS supports the Technogenesis™ vision
of Stevens, a leading technological university in Hoboken,
New Jersey, directly across the Hudson River from New York
City. Stevens has a strong tradition of science-based technology
development for the benefit of society, which began with the
founders’ invention and commercialization of steamship
urban ferry travel across the Hudson. This tradition has continued
to the present day with some 4,000 students being served with
approximately 1,600 undergraduates, a strong program of focused
graduate student research, and graduate programs for working
professionals.
The Stevens tradition is complemented by its unique location
close to the global center of finance, the largest concentration
of pharmaceutical, biomedical, chemical, and high-tech companies
in the world, and a large number of acclaimed universities
employing a huge pool of talented, productive researchers.
As a result, Stevens and the NJCMCS are uniquely situated
for the development of strong synergistic relationships and
a strong supporting infrastructure, which can bring to fruition
the promise of MicroChemical Systems.
Our faculty has diverse and complementary educational backgrounds
with broad interdisciplinary research exposure. Visit our
