Vision and Goals

Vision:

Our vision is to become a global leader in the design and characterization of microchemical Systems with emphasis on rapidly moving our discoveries and technology innovations to the marketplace in partnership with biomedical, chemical, defense, energy, and pharmaceutical industries. The Center aims to build the core knowledge base required to design, integrate, and produce microchemical devices on a rational basis, as emerging platforms for chemical process intensification and miniaturization. Currently, the Center is carrying out several vibrant projects, through innovative university-industry-government partnerships, for miniature fuel cell power devices and safe and cost-effective on-demand production of chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

Goals:
  • Provide an intellectually exciting environment that fosters scientific discoveries and technology innovations in microchemical systems by the faculty, students, staff and collaborators associated with the Center.
  • Nucleate synergistic university-industry-government partnerships aimed at technology development, demonstration, and commercialization.
  • Maintain and share stable human resources and physical infrastructure for carrying out large interdisciplinary research tasks in a time-effective manner.
  • Promote long-term relationships with affiliated faculty from Stevens and collaborating faculty from other academic institutions to complement the expertise and capabilities of the core faculty team (Link to Personnel).
